Its only saving graces are Wolfgang Reichmann's performance as Beethoven, the locations and costumes. Dieter Prinz as Karl, Beethoven's nephew, is monotonous and expressionless (as are several other actors). He may have been reading his lines phonetically; if so someone should have coached him better. The costumer clearly did her research, as some of the outfits look nearly identical to sketches and paintings from Beethoven's time. Reichmann bears a decent resemblance to him (although, sometimes he looks more like Leo McKern) and does a fine job with what he's given. However, there are many inaccuracies. The portrayal of his increasing deafness is inconsistent and the reenactment of the famous performance of the Ninth Symphony at which Beethoven attempted to conduct was simply wrong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7030012.post-1131659698474483562005-11-10T16:54:00.000-05:002005-11-10T16:54:00.000-05:00Sweetie - you uncultured swine!Dog flicks are movi...Sweetie - you uncultured swine!

Dog flicks are movies that I am a big fan of, usually only because of the dog itself. But, this film... well, basically its the same deal, here, but at least it was good. Usually, a lot of family films with dogs are just cheesy films where big time actors bond with the dog, even though they didn't want it at first. In this case, it was funny, heart-warming to dog lovers, and fun for the whole family.

Beethoven is one of the actually good family films about dogs that are out there. Dog lovers would like it a lot, because it is funny, heart-warming, and shows the relationship between a man and his dog which he once hated, which can go to show you that, just like the saying goes, dog is man's best friend.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7030012.post-1131651158764558402005-11-10T14:32:00.000-05:002005-11-10T14:32:00.000-05:00Sawbuck: a framework for holding wood that is bein...Sawbuck: a framework for holding wood that is being sawed.
$10.Guy Hutchinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13225310027801357310noreply@blogger.com
